How to set up your fan page to deliver the best customer experience

  • Restaurants and Cafes; 
  • Shopping and Video Page. 

Each one has its own predefined set of tabs and buttons that best suit the objectives of the corresponding business type. Get the most out of your fan page by configuring the right template and customizing it to suit your business goals.

How to change the page template of your company's fan page

You can change your Facebook page's template whenever you want. Follow these steps:

  1. Click Settings at the top of the Page.
  2. Click Templates & Guides in the left column.
  3. Under Templates, click Edit next to your current template.
  4. Click View Details next to the template you want to apply.
  5. Review the new buttons and tabs for your Page and click Apply Template.
  6. Click OK .

What are the tabs or tabs of a fan page and how to configure them?

Each page template will have a default tab organization for that specific template. However, you can edit the position of some tabs. You can rearrange them to highlight what's most important to your business goals. 

Note: Some tabs cannot be reordered or removed. 

To add a tab or section to your fan page:

  1. Go to Page and click Settings .
  2. Click Templates & Guides in the left column.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Add a tab .
  4. Click Add Tab next to the tab you want to add.
  5. Click Close.

To reorder tabs and sections:

  1. Go to Page and click Settings .
  2. Click Templates & Guides in the left column.
  3. Click and drag a tab to reorder it.

To remove a tab or section:

  1. Go to Page and click Settings .
  2. Click Templates & Guides in the left column.
  3. Click Settings next to the tab you want to remove.
  4. Click to select Disable .
  5. Click Save .
  6. Note: Some tabs are default and will not display this option. 

Customizing your fan page according to the type of business

How to add a services tab to your fan page

Add a Services menu so people can see your offerings when they visit your Facebook page. You can briefly explain the service, add a price (optional), and an image, for example.

How to set up a services tab on your fan page:

  1. Click Settings at the top of the Page.
  2. Click Templates & Guides in the left column.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Add a tab .
  4. Next to Services , click Add Tab , and then click Close .

To add your services:

  1. Return to the first page of your Page and click Services in the left column.
  2. Click Add a service .
  3. Enter information about your service and click Save .
  4. To list another service, click Add a service .

Enabling and correctly editing the information in this tab will positively impact your potential customer's purchasing decision. Use this feature to better explain what your company does and how it can benefit the consumer. 

How to allow people to book your services through Facebook

If your business supports appointment scheduling, you can use Facebook's Appointments to manage your appointment calendar directly within the platform and allow customers to book appointments through your Facebook Page.

To add appointments to your Facebook page:

  1. Go to your Page and click the call-to-action button below your Page cover photo.
  2. Click Make a reservation with you and then click Book now .
  3. Click Next .
  4. Click on Facebook Appointments
  5. Click Start Settings and then click Next to display available appointment times. If you don't want to do this, click Not now .
  6. If you prefer to display, set the days and times you want to offer regular appointments on the calendar and click Next . Adjust your preferences for things like appointment approval and advance notice, and click Next .
  7. Click Next to review your services, then click Next again.
  8. Choose whether you want to send appointment reminders or follow-up messages to clients, then click Finish .

How to add a menu to your fan page

If your business is a restaurant or cafe, for example, providing a menu will give your customers a better understanding of the dishes served. This can be a great opportunity to showcase your best offerings and truly win over the customer. 

Tip: Choose real, authentic images over stock images. With today's accessible technology, you can take excellent images of your dishes yourself. You can find great tutorials on YouTube. However, if possible, don't overlook the need to hire a good professional. One tip is to hire a freelancer .

To add a menu to your Page:

  1. Click About on the left side of the Page.
  2. Under More Info , click Add Menu .
  3. Upload a photo or PDF file of your menu, or click Link to Website Menu to link to your website menu.
  4. Once your menu has uploaded or you've added a link to the menu, click Confirm .

How to add Recommendations and Reviews to your Fan Page

Make sure to enable Reviews so customers can rate your business on Facebook. Online ratings and reviews help customers learn more about your business and play a crucial role in consumer purchasing decisions. 

Enabling Reviews on Facebook Page:

  1. Click Settings at the top of the Page.
  2. Click Templates & Guides in the left column.
  3. Scroll down and click Add a tab .
  4. Click Add tab next to Recommendations or Reviews .

Add Tripadvisor reviews to your Fanpage

Add the Tripadvisor app and display the platform's reviews directly on your fan page. Plus, your customers can review your establishment on Tripadvisor without leaving Facebook. You can also share photos of customers at your establishments and display your awards and badges earned on the platform. The app is free and easy to install.

How to install Tripadvisor on your Facebook page

  1. Log in to Facebook as an administrator of a business page.
  2. Log in to TripAdvisor and go to the TripAdvisor Widgets . Enter your business name in the search bar. Select the "TripAdvisor Traveler Reviews for Facebook" widget.
  3. You'll be redirected to Facebook. If you manage multiple pages, you'll see a drop-down menu showing all your pages. Select the one that will receive the widget.
  4. Once installed, you can customize which sections of the app you would like to display on your page by clicking the “Customize” link in the top right corner of the app.

How to allow people to check in to your Facebook Page

Check-ins, as well as mentions on social media, also contribute to your online reputation. Enabling this option also helps your business be found when potential customers are looking for something similar nearby. 

To enable the check-in feature on the fan page:

  1. Click on About on the left side of the Page;
  2. Click Edit Page Information;
  3. Next to Address , click to check the box next to Has a physical address and enter your business address;
  4. Click below the map to check the box next to Customers visiting my business at the physical address (unchecking this box will hide your physical address and check-ins);
  5. Click Save Changes .

If you're unable to allow check-ins, you may need to change your Page's category.

How to Create a Facebook Action Button

These buttons encourage people to take important actions on your Facebook page, such as booking a service or contacting your business. Call-to-action buttons appear prominently at the top of your Page or at the bottom when viewed on a phone and can direct visitors to any location, on or off Facebook.

Buttons are easy to add and can help you generate real business results. The key to getting the most out of them is to test, test, and test. The available calls to action are:

  • Make a reservation with you;
  • Contact you;
  • Learn more about your business;
  • Buy from you;
  • Download your app or play your game
To add a call to action button to your fan page
  1. On your Page's cover photo, click the +add a button .
  2. Choose what type of button you'd like people to see.
  3. Depending on the type of button you choose, you may need to add a business email address or a link to your website.
  4. Don't worry, Facebook will guide you through the process; it's very simple. Once you've edited the necessary information, click Finish .
